PCD Global launches in PNG with bold plans for jobs growth and export hub

Global industrial supplier PCD Global has officially launched its operations in Papua New Guinea, unveiling ambitious plans to make PNG a regional export and logistics hub while committing to significant long-term investment in local employment, infrastructure, and community development.

The launch event was attended by Managing Director Ty Jarvis, National Manager for PNG Taunamo R. Idau-Tau, and Keith Crundwell, National Manager for Australia and the Pacific, highlighting the company’s strong regional leadership and strategic focus.

“PNG was our first international expansion because we see huge potential here; in the resources, the people, and the economy,” said Mr Jarvis. “But to succeed, we knew we had to do things differently.”

Mr Jarvis explained that PCD Global’s decision to enter PNG reflects a deep belief in the country’s future and a commitment to a unique approach that centres local involvement and real community impact.

To this end, PCD Global appointed Taunamo R. Idau-Tau as National Manager for PNG.

Mr Idau-Tau will spearhead efforts to engage with local businesses, provincial governments, and communities, ensuring PCD’s services are tailored to meet the specific needs of PNG’s diverse industries.

“Taunamo’s extensive knowledge of the local market is essential to building trust and delivering real benefits to the people of PNG,” said Mr Jarvis.

Also present, Keith Crundwell highlighted the company’s broader Pacific strategy, linking PNG operations with their Australian and regional supply chains to provide seamless service across the region.

PCD Global offers a comprehensive range of products including personal protective equipment (PPE), safety workwear, hydraulics, fluid power systems, and custom industrial tools.

Many of these products are manufactured in-house, allowing the company to offer prices up to 40% lower than competitors by cutting out middlemen.

The company plans to establish major warehousing and distribution centres in Port Moresby and Lae, enabling PNG to become a key logistics hub for exports to Australia, the United States, and Europe.

This investment is expected to create jobs, boost freight and port activity, and improve supply chain efficiency.

In addition, PCD Global has launched an online ordering portal for PNG customers, offering member-only pricing, real-time stock availability, and fast delivery options. A dedicated PNG website is also in development to better serve the local market.

As part of the launch, PCD Global is running a giveaway competition during their Expo on the 2nd to 3rd July.

One lucky winner will receive a fully paid trip to Brisbane to watch the Broncos vs Dolphins NRL game in a corporate box, with flights, accommodation, and meals included. The prize is valued at AUD $20,000.

“We are here for the long haul,” Mr Jarvis said. “Our commitment is to build strong partnerships that empower PNG’s workforce and economy.”
